Iron River

Another visit to our favorite Lake Superior did not disappoint.  The kayak along the Iron River to its entrance to what the Chippewa call the Gitche Gumee to our hike to Yellow Dog Falls were two new experiences on this trip.  The lake was kind enough to allow a kayak excursion past Black Rock point – a basalt intrusion through the Jacobsville Sandstone.  One of my favorite spots is the small peninsula with its lone pine jutting into the lake. Of course we found some awesome rocks to take home and cut into coasters
