Garnet

A common mineral in metamorphic rocks is garnet. Here in this creek bed find mentioned in the previous post are some beautiful deep red garnets between layers of biotite and quartz. The first two images on the left show a cluster of garnets in the coaster upper left regioun surrounded by milky white quartz minerals. The third photo reveals smaller garnet crystals embedded between layers of black biotite crystals.
