Big Bay Michigan Trip

Lake Superior; the largest of all the Great Lakes. Jerry Dennis wrote once that “it even smells big” and everything about it is massive. Calm waters early in the morning can become an angry whitecapped cauldron in the afternoon. Unlike other lakes which seem to have silt and algae hiding any view of what’s beneath the surface, Lake Superior reveals it all unashamedly. We spent a week on Big Bay, about 30 minutes northwest of Marquette along the shoreline. Looking west from the beach the red Jacobsville Sandstone cliffs were calling me to explore. I did manage to find some nice rocks to craft some coasters from.
